Peranakan culture in Malaysia had been slowly forgotten by the new era. As part of the unique culture that born and raised in particularly Penang, Melacca & Singapore, peranakan were an ethnic group defined by their genealogical descent from the first waves of Hoklo settlers in the Malay Peninsula. It was a results of inter-marriage between the Chinese and the local non-Muslim Malays, their descendetns become known as the Peranakan Cina/ Straits Chinese and are always referred to as the Baba Nyonya. There's several different type of architectural styles that are related to the Peranakans. However a typical Peranakan house usually has the Ruang Tamu (the first hall), Tiah Gelap (second hall), Chim Chae (courtyard/ air wells), Ancestral Hall, and Kitchen.

In "Rumah-Ku' the designer proposed to bring back all these significant peranakan spaces into this particular proposal, to re-embrace the spaces while paying respect towards the Peranakan Architecture Style. While in another aspect, the designer tries to tackled the approach from the visual experience perspective, as all the furniture & material were mostly into Retro style  which giving an experience as if the user were living in the traditional Peranakan house.
