Serenity of Bangsar

The Serenity of Bangsar was a learning hub powered by PAM. The core programme of the Serenity Learning Hub were mainly focus on learning the arts, architecture and performaing arts with a variety range of arts programme being included inside this building. The Serenity of Bangsar also focuses on training public and the user on the urban farming matter where it is slowly become one of the core topic in the world to promote sustainability. Huge spaces were contributed to the public in the ground area as it is to promote community programme among the community in Bangsar as well as the public. Variety of arts programme were also being offer in the Serinity of Bangsar to promote arts culture as well as architecture .
- The Proposed Site -
Located in the suburb of Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur,Lot 294 is a plot of land situated in Bangsar that were currently occupied by APW Bangsar, a creative space for the community. The plot of land were having a total area of 6033.37Sq.m while after setback, the proposed land were havinga 4748.98Sq.m buildable area.Accordingto the local authority - DBKL, the proposed site were given a plot ratio of 1 : 4 which approximately 18995.92Sq.mwere able to be build on this lot.Lot 294 were located right beisde of Balai Berita, NSTP, and Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) Centre, while there is a TNB substaion that located next to the proposed site. Acrross the proposed site, there were an on-going construction site oppsite of Jalan Riong while a student hostel for UNIKL opposite of Jalan Tandok. Plenty of green patches were found surrounding the proposed site, while lots of greeneries were available arround the proposed site too.
- The Concept -
The core idea of this project was to create a Hi-Tech style architecture yet allowing to accomodate the user. The idea of learning hub in this proposal was to teaches user on ‘Hands-On’ skills where it doesn’t only teach on architecture yet it able to teach the useron art, architecture & performing arts in this specific space. Hi-tech architecture style were being applied into thi sparticular project as it was inspirred by the existing APW printing workshop. As the old building of the APW were a old industrial style looking buildung full with exposed structure in the overall building, Therefore in this proposal I’ve proposed to create a material expressioms building style to pay tribute to the original APW yet creating a contrast with the exsitng building style . Greeneries were introduced into the overall planning of the Serinity of Bangsar as greeneries were able to helps in cooling down the overall temperature of the site yet able to attract the nearby flora & fauna into the proposed site space. Huge greeneries were also able to creates a calming environment for the overall building design as the proposal was a learning hub where people will spend hours in doing something. Therefore by introducing large greeneries into this space able to calm down the user mentality yet able to reduce the energy usage. Most of the system in this project will reduced the energy consumption , with the pond and the greeneries introduced grey water were able to use for irrigation.
- Design Strategies -
Multiple strategies were applied into this design of Learning Hub to incorporate the idea of energy efficiency and the community based programme that applied in this learning hub.
